Where The Wild Things Are X Opening Ceremony

Carol Coat
Bull Coat
Douglas Fur Coat

(openingceremony.us)

Walked over to Opening Ceremony this afternoon and was taken back by how much fur (faux fur) there was in the front! I could barely see anything past the rack to the back.

The pieces are all from their collaboration with Spike Jonze and Where The Wild Things Are, with inspiration taken from all of our favorite childhood characters. I couldn't help but try on as many as I could without getting too hot on this 80 degree day. Can I just tell you how much I love the Carol Coat? Cute cute cute!

Lucy Treks The Sahara

One of my lovely and talented friends, Lucy, is planning to trek part of the Sahara in November and as a form of sponsorship one of her fundraising plans is to sell some of her prints; The cause is for The Parkinsons Disease Society. She's travelled with bands and photographs regularly for Rolling Stone so she has shot a ton of musicians over the years. Some of these portraits would make great presents for friends or even if you just want a giant print for yourself. You can see her work on her website here or at lucyhamblin.com and can choose from any of the photographs on her site. Some of the bands and artists she's worked with are Kings of Leon, U2, MGMT, The Strokes, Daft Punk, The Cold War Kids, Iggy Pop, Metallica, Bjork, Green Day, PJ Harvey, Amy Winehouse, M.I.A, Cat Power, Jamie T, The Horrors, The White Stripes and more. She is also selling prints of any of her other photographs if you're interested.

She is offering three sizes of prints:
8"x10" = $60 /£40
11"x14"= $80 /£50
16"x20"= $150 / £95

E-mail her here: lucyhamblin@googlemail.com and buy some art for a good cause!

Corinne Day Photo

When I found out through one of my daily reads that Premier model management would be selling a limited edition, never been published, photograph of Kate Moss by Corinne Day I was super psyched. To learn that all proceeds of the sales of this photo would be used to pay for a procedure for the very sick Miss Day, I decided that I needed to get it. Considering Kate is one of my favorite superstar models and Corinne played a big part in propelling her to the top, I really wanted to be a part of both Corinne's recovery as well as owning a piece of her work. The print arrived today and I absolutely love it!

Here are a couple other Kate photos by Corinne that everyone's seen but I thought I'd post anyway...

Summer is almost through and this story has always made me feel warm; here is one of my favorite Gemma editorials by Corinne from Vogue UK '06:

Some looks I've liked from SS10 so far, though I haven't had time to quite look through everything yet. Not totally excited this season, however, I have big big love for Richard Chai's new Love line and I will do anything for that black and beige Preen dress with the exposed shoulders.

All About Anna (and Grace)

I went to see The September Issue tonight and it was nothing short of amazing.  There was definite craning at the screen, on my part, for the entire length of the film.  The Huffington likened  Anna to a pimp which is a synonym perfectly placed where, in the fashion world, she sells anybody or anything to anyone.  And while I've always been a fan of Grace Coddington, (this woman has styled some of my favourite Vogue editorials) this movie definitely sealed the deal.  Picking it up as soon as it hits dvd.

Heaven Sent

Pavé diamond and white gold ring

Black and white diamond ray shield pendent from the Garrard Knightrider Collection

www.garrard.com

The other day I noticed this delicate knuckle ring on the hand of a woman who had the most amazing set of jeweled fingers.  She told me it was Garrard, available at Jeffrey and that sadly she had lost about five of the diamonds and had yet to get them replaced.  E-bay searching proved that there are many imitations, but nothing touches this original beauty from the Garrard Wings Collection.  The Knightrider Collection is worth looking at too.
